Dear Parishioners

Today is the fifth Sunday of Easter. We continue to bask in the joy and glory of Easter! The Lord reveals himself to us in so many ways. We hear in today’s gospel of Jesus as the vine, and we are the branches. We must remain on the vine that is Jesus, so that we can produce good fruit. How blessed we are to root ourselves on the vine that gives us life, that is Jesus himself.

Jesus is the vine who gives us the nourishment we need to continue the journey of discipleship. As we prepare to celebrate the great feast of Pentecost in a few weeks, let us pray that the Holy Spirit will descend upon this world, illuminating our hearts with the fire of God’s love and mercy.

Diocese of Brooklyn Eucharistic Revival

I take this opportunity to thank all of those who participated in last week’s Diocesan Eucharistic Revival at Louis Armstrong tennis stadium. It was an incredible day filled with the Holy Spirit. We gathered with over 6,500 people from all over Brooklyn and Queens to spend time before Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament in prayer and to give witness to our faith as Catholics. It is my hope and my prayer that many graces were born from this beautiful encounter with Jesus Christ.

League of the Sacred Heart Tea Party

Our parish League of the Sacred Heart will have their annual fundraiser Tea Party today, Sunday, April 28 in St. Peter Claver Msgr. Rodgers Hall beginning at 1:30PM. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 and under. All are invited to join us for an afternoon of fellowship and fun.

Mother’s Day Remembrance

As we prepare to enter the month of May, we will remember in a special way at Mass all mothers, both alive and deceased. Mother’s Day remembrance envelopes are located at the doors of each of our three churches. Please fill out the envelope and place the offering inside. You may return the envelope in the collection basket or to the parish office. The names of all mothers will be placed on the altars of each of the three churches throughout the month of May.

First Friday Devotions

This Friday, May 3rd is the first Friday of the month. First Friday devotions will take place at Our Lady of Victory Church following the 8:00AM Mass with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament along with the recitation of the rosary for life. We will end with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. In addition, there will be a 12:00Noon Mass at St. Peter Claver Church. All are welcomed to pray with us.

Wishing you a blessed and peaceful week,

Father Alonzo Q. Cox
