Dear Parishioners

I take this opportunity to wish all of you a blessed and joyful Easter Sunday! The Lord has been raised and we shout Alleluia! Over these last 40 days, we fasted from saying that word, today we can now shout it from the rooftops. I hope that this Easter Sunday will be filled with God’s love and grace, as we celebrate the joys of our salvation. I am sure you noticed how beautifully decorated each of our three churches are. I want to thank our decorating volunteers who worked so hard in making each of our three churches so radiant for Easter Sunday. I also want to thank our liturgical ministers who participated in the liturgies of Holy Week. They were able to help make these days prayerful and uplifting. Over these next few weeks of Easter, our first reading for Mass will come from the Acts of the Apostles. We look at how the Apostles were sent out to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to all believers. Let us pray on this Easter Sunday, that we will be proclaimers of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Easter Egg Hunt

As has been the custom, following the 10:15AM Mass at Our Lady of Victory, there will be an Easter egg hunt on the lawn of the church. Children are invited to participate in the hunt. There will be an Easter party following in McGuinness Hall. All families are welcomed to join as we celebrate the joys of Easter.

Rosary Society Thank You

I take this opportunity to thank our parish Rosary Society for another successful Palm Sunday Brunch. Over $1,500 was raised last week for the Brunch. We thank them for their hard work and dedication to St. Martin de Porres Parish.

Diocese of Brooklyn Eucharistic Revival

The Diocese of Brooklyn Eucharistic Revival that was to take place in October will now take place on Saturday, April 20. It will take place at the Louis Armstrong Tennis Stadium in Flushing. If you purchased a seat on the bus for October, you automatically have a seat on the bus for this event. If you would like to purchase a seat on the bus for April, please call the parish office.

Divine Mercy Sunday

Next Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday. As has been the custom, we will gather at Our Lady of Victory Church at 3:00PM for Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament and the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. All are invited to pray with us as we recall God’s merciful love upon us and on the whole world.

Allow me to end with the Regina Caeli Prayer:

Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia. For he, whom you did merit to bear, alleluia.
Has risen as he said, alleluia. Pray for us to God, alleluia. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia. For the Lord is truly risen, alleluia.

Have a blessed a joyful Easter Sunday,

Father Alonzo Q. Cox
