Dear Parishioners

Today we celebrate our Lord’s triumphant entry into the city of Jerusalem on this Palm Sunday. We hear how palm branches were thrown at the feet of Jesus as he made his way into the city. We are given palm branches today at Mass as a reminder of that moment when Jesus will begin his journey from Jerusalem ultimately to Calvary. With the celebration of Palm Sunday, we enter the holiest and most sacred days of the Christian calendar, Holy Week. It is during this most holy and sacred time that we experience the grace of our Lord’s passion, death and resurrection. At today’s Mass, we will participate in the proclamation of the Lord’s Passion, which this year comes from St. Mark’s gospel. Let us pray that these days will be moments of grace and peace, as we prepare to celebrate the joys of Easter.

Reconciliation Monday

Tomorrow, Monday March 25 is Reconciliation Monday. As has been the custom, every Catholic Church in the Diocese of Brooklyn, Rockville Centre and the Archdiocese of New York will be open for the sacrament of Confessions. Here at St. Marin de Porres, there will be a priest available for confession from 2:00PM-4:00PM at the Parish Office. Later that evening, there will be a priest available for confession from 6:00PM-9:00PM at Our Lady of Victory Church. All are welcomed to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation before the joys of Easter Sunday.

 Rosary Society Palm Sunday Brunch

Our parish rosary society will continue with their annual Palm Sunday Brunch. It will take place today, Sunday, March 24 following the 10:15AM Mass. It will be a pickup and go meal. Each meal is $30 each. Please be sure to stop by McGuinness Hall on Palm Sunday to help support this great parish fundraiser.

Diocese of Brooklyn Eucharistic Revival

The Diocese of Brooklyn Eucharistic Revival that was to take place in October will now take place on Saturday, April 20. It will take place at the Louis Armstrong Tennis Stadium in Flushing. If you purchased a seat on the bus for October, you automatically have a seat on the bus for this event. If you would like to purchase a seat on the bus for April, please call the parish office.

Holy Week Schedule

Please be sure to look at the Holy Week schedule of Masses and services that will take place here at St. Martin de Porres Parish. The Holy Week schedule is printed in this week’s bulletin. There are also banners placed at the doors of each of the three churches with the Holy Week schedule printed. Please be sure to share our celebrations with family and friends.

We adore you O Christ and we praise you, for by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world,

Father Alonzo Q. Cox
