Dear Parishioners

Today we celebrate the great solemnity of Christ the King. It is one of my favorite solemnities. The scripture readings for Mass focus on the kingly presence of the Lord. We hear in today’s gospel that the Lord will come in glory on his throne with his scepter of power and justice. Jesus is the King that we want to follow! He is the King who will lead us to the kingdom of everlasting life. Jesus is our sovereign King, who is our savior and redeemer. Today also marks the last Sunday of this liturgical year. Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent! It’s hard to believe that we have already approached a new liturgical season. We pray that the Lord will continue to bless the amazing and good work being done here at St. Martin de Porres parish. Long live Christ the King!

50/50 Raffle

A 50/50 envelope has been included in your monthly tithe’s envelope packet. Extra envelopes are located at the doors of the churches. Contribution is $20 and the proceeds will be used for the ongoing renovation and rebuilding of parish facilities. The winner takes home half of the amount collected for the given month.

Lector Workbooks

Today, the Solemnity of Christ the King, is the last Sunday of the liturgical year. All parish lectors must pick up their new lector workbooks in the sacristy of each of the churches.

Parish Christmas Fundraisers

Our parish Christmas fundraiser will be “A taste of Christmas box and poinsettia sale”. A taste of Christmas is a delightful sweet and savory holiday themed box. We will also be selling beautiful poinsettia plants. This will take place on Sunday December 3rd after all the Masses.

Parish Christmas Party

Our parish Christmas party will take place on Sunday, December 10 at Our Lady of Victory McGuinness Hall beginning at 1:00PM. Tickets are $20 each and includes food, dancing and a lot of fun. We also have some great prizes to be raffled off throughout the day. Tickets for the party along with raffle tickets can be purchased after all the Masses this weekend and at the parish office.

Advent Tuesday Evening Vespers and Adoration

We will continue the custom of having Eucharistic Adoration and Vespers each of the Tuesdays of Advent. They will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church beginning at 7:30PM. Our first Tuesday evening will be December 5. All are welcomed to pray with us.

Youth Ministry

Youth ministry will begin meeting on Sunday, December 3 at Our Lady of Victory McGuinness Hall at 12:30PM.

Wishing you a blessed and peaceful week,

Father Alonzo Q. Cox
