Dear Parishioners,

Traditionally the month of October has been known as the month of the rosary. This past Saturday, we celebrated the memorial of the Holy Rosary. As Catholics, we believe that this beautiful devotion to the Holy Rosary allows us to focus on the mysteries that lead us to Christ. We know that our Blessed Mother never wanted us to see her as God, she knew that she wasn’t! Mary always and continues to lead us to her Son, Jesus. She is the mother of the Savior, who reminds us every day to “do what he tells you”. During this month of October, we are invited to strengthen our devotion to the rosary. May I suggest praying an additional decade of the rosary for a special intention. We are also blessed as a parish community to have Holy Rosary church. As you know, the stained-glass windows depict each of the mysteries of the rosary. May our Blessed Mother continue to wrap her mantle of love and peace around us. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Death of Father Jerome Nadine

Just this past week, Father Jerome Nadine, a retired priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn who was living on the west coast passed away. Father Nadine served as a young priest at Holy Rosary Church. I had the great joy of meeting Father Nadine soon after I arrived to the parish about 9 years ago. He would reminisce and tell me stories of being an African American priest during the 60’s. Father Nadine’s funeral Mass will take place in California this week and it will be livestreamed. The link for the livestream is in this week’s bulletin. Please pray for the repose of his soul and the consolation of his family.

2023 Annual Catholic Appeal

Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity. There will be one more in-pew weekend for those who have not yet made a pledge to the appeal. Anything we get beyond the goal comes directly back to the parish. Thank you!
