From The Pastors Desk
Dear Parishioners,
Dear Parishioners,
As we come to the end of the month of September, the Lord continues to bless us with his love and mercy. We begin this new pastoral year filled with joy and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Our second reading today for Mass encourages us to allow Christ to be magnified within us. We must always live for Christ and Christ alone. Jesus is truly the center of our lives, therefore we must never allow anything else to get in the way of others seeing Christ in all we say and do. Jesus challenges us in today’s gospel to a deeper sense of humility. The last shall be first and the first shall be last. We pray for a greater sense of humility. It is not about our status in this world, but how we give ourselves totally to each other for the building up of the kingdom of God here and now. As we continue to spread the good news of Jesus Christ here in Bedford Stuyvesant, we pray that our lives will be rooted in Christ, our sure and strongest foundation. May the Holy Spirit inspire us to bring the light of Christ to all our brothers and sisters.

Diocese of Brooklyn Eucharistic Revival
The Catholic Church throughout the country has called for a renewal in the proclamation of the Most Holy Eucharist. As Catholics, we believe that Jesus is present body, blood, soul and divinity in the Eucharist. He is truly the center of the Church. Here in the Diocese of Brooklyn, we will have a Diocesan Eucharistic Revival which will take place on Saturday, October 7 at Maimonides Park Stadium (Brooklyn Cyclones in Coney Island) beginning at 8:00AM. The day will include praise and worship, Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Family Catechesis and much more. There will be a bus leaving from Our Lady of Victory Church for $20.00. The bus will leave promptly at 7:00AM. We will also be selling tee shirts with our parish logo, as we represent St. Martin de Porres at the park. Tee shirts are $20.00 each. To reserve a ticket and reserve a seat on the bus, please call the parish office.
Curry Q Thank You
I take this opportunity to thank all of you who supported our Curry Q fundraiser last week. I also want to thank the team who worked so hard in making it such a great success. We raised over $6,000! All the proceeds will go towards our parish goal for the Annual Catholic Appeal.
Blessing of Animals
Next week we will commemorate the memorial of St. Francis of Assisi, who is known as the patron saint of animals. As is the custom, we will hold the blessing of animals on Sunday, October 1st at 1:30PM at St. Peter Claver Church. You are invited to bring your pets to be blessed that day.
Wishing you a joyful and peaceful week,
Father Alonzo Q. Cox
