Dear Parishioners,

,I take this opportunity to thank all of you for your kind words of condolence on the passing of our former Pastor, Msgr. Paul Jervis. As Diocesan Director of Liturgy, one of my primary responsibilities is to plan clergy funerals. It was a tremendous honor for me to plan Monsignor’s vigil and funeral Masses, which were held at St. Francis of Assisi-St. Blaise parish. Hundreds of people came throughout the two days to pay their respects to him. I met priests from Guyana, who flew in for his funeral. His funeral Mass was filled, with an overflow of people outside the church. He had a beautiful sendoff! We continue to pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and the consolation of his friends and family. Our second reading for Mass today reminds us that we live for the Lord! Everything we do on this earth reflects the great love God has for us and his people. As we begin this new pastoral year, we pray that our hearts will be filled with God’s immense love so that we may share the Good News of his son Jesus Christ with others.

Thank You Joan Delahunt

As we have announced, our co-music director here at the parish, Joan Delahunt has retired from active ministry. She has dedicated over 30 years of music ministry throughout the Diocese of Brooklyn, Rockville Centre and the Archdiocese of New York. We thank her for her 4 years here with us as she accompanied our voices to the heavens. We wish her the very best in retirement and God’s abundant blessings upon her.

School of Faith Formation Registration

Children who need receiving the Sacraments of Initiation must register their children for faith formation classes. Registration fee is $55 per child. Diocese of Brooklyn Eucharistic Revival

The Catholic Church throughout the country has called for a renewal in the proclamation of the Most Holy Eucharist. As Catholics, we believe that Jesus is present body, blood, soul and divinity in the Eucharist. He is truly the center of the Church. Here in the Diocese of Brooklyn, we will have a Diocesan Eucharistic Revival which will take place on Saturday, October 7 at Maimonides Park Stadium (Brooklyn Cyclones in Coney Island) beginning at 8:00AM. The day will include praise and worship, Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Family Catechesis and much more. There will be a bus leaving from Our Lady of Victory Church for a nominal fee. You are all invited to join with the Diocese of Brooklyn for a day of prayer and worship, a celebration of Catholic families and the proclamation of the joy of the gospel and Eucharist.

Paint & Sip Afternoon

Back by popular demand, St. Peter Claver church will hold a paint and sip afternoon on Saturday, September 23 beginning at 1:00PM in Msgr. Rodgers Hall. A professional paint instructor will be on hand along with canvas, paints, snacks and wine. The cost is $45.
