Dear Parishioners,

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ. As Catholics, we believe that Jesus is truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith as Catholics. We must treat the Blessed Sacrament with the respect and reverence that is due, for the Lord Jesus is present. Just this past week, one of the parishes in our Diocese had the Eucharist desecrated. A psychologically disturbed person entered the Adoration chapel and began to bang his head on the monstrance. After that he entered the Main Church and broke open the tabernacle and proceeded to throw the Blessed Sacrament all over the floor. We adore Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, which is why actions like this should pain us. The Lord gives of himself for our nourishment and sustenance. As we celebrate this Corpus Christi Sunday, let us continue to place Jesus at the center of our lives.

Father’s Day Remembrance

During the month of June, we will remember in a special way all Father’s both living and deceased. Father’s Day remembrance envelopes are located at the doors of each of the three churches. You are invited to place the names of the fathers you wish to have remembered along with the offering in the envelopes. These names will be placed on the altars of each of the three churches during the month of June.

Altar Flower Contribution

As we bring the Easter season to a close, we thank all of you who contributed to our Easter flower collection. Throughout the year, we would like to continue keeping flowers at each of our altars. For those who wish, we will continue to accept flower donations either in memory or in honor of a loved one throughout the entire years. Flowers will be placed at the altars of each of our three churches. Thank you for your generosity.

Congratulations Graduates

Throughout the month of June, we will congratulate those who will be graduating from schools of learning. If you or a family member will be graduating, please see the signup sheets at the doors of the churches. Please indicate their names, schools and degree. Their names will be placed in the parish bulletin the weekend of June 24/25.

Father’s Day BBQ

Our annual parish Father’s Day BBQ will take place next Saturday, June 17 in the lot of St. Peter Claver Church. The BBQ will begin at 2PM. We thank the men of the parish Holy Name Society for sponsoring this BBQ. All are welcomed to join us.

May the heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament be praised, adored and loved, with grateful affection, at every moment in all the tabernacles of the world, even until the end of time, Amen.

Wishing you a blessed and joyful week,

Father Alonzo Q. Cox
