From The Pastors Desk
Dear Parishioners,
As we enter the Ordinary Time of the Liturgical year, we celebrate two beautiful Sunday solemnities that allows us to commemorate the foundation of our faith. Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Next week we will celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. Today’s solemnity gives us the true roots of who we are as Catholics. Each time we gather for prayer, we invoke the Blessed Trinity, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that God is present in the three persons of the Trinity. When we were baptized, the priest or deacon baptized us using the Trinitarian formula. Our lives of prayer must always begin and end by invoking the three persons of the Blessed Trinity. Our gospel passage today allows us to reflect upon how God sent his only begotten son to free us from our sins and lead us to salvation. We pray that Jesus will continue to lead us to that kingdom where we will spend all eternity.
Father’s Day Remembrance
During the month of June, we will remember in a special way all Father’s both living and deceased. Father’s Day remembrance envelopes are located at the doors of each of the three churches. You are invited to place the names of the fathers you wish to have remembered along with the offering in the envelopes. These names will be placed on the altars of each of the three churches during the month of June.
Altar Flower Contribution
As we bring the Easter season to a close, we thank all of you who contributed to our Easter flower collection. Throughout the year, we would like to continue keeping flowers at each of our altars. For those who wish, we will continue to accept flower donations either in memory or in honor of a loved one throughout the entire years. Flowers will be placed at the altars of each of our three churches. Thank you for your generosity.
Parish Calendar Meeting
In preparation for the upcoming new Pastoral year to begin in the Fall of 2023, we will hold our annual parish calendar meeting on Saturday June 10 at Our Lady of Victory McGuinness Hall beginning at 10:00AM. All leaders of parish societies and committees are invited to place and propose events to be placed on the parish calendar. To properly facilitate this meeting, there are event request forms available at each of the three churches this weekend to give to the leaders of those societies and committees.
The Father is my hope. The Son is my refuge. The Holy Spirit is my protector. Glory to the holy and undivided Trinity, now and forever. Let us praise the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; let us bless and exalt God above all forever! Almighty and everlasting God, to whom we owe the grace of professing the true faith, grant that while acknowledging the glory of the eternal Trinity and adoring its unity, we may through your majestic power be confirmed in this faith and defended against all adversities; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Wishing you a joyful and peaceful week,
Father Alonzo Q. Cox
